A new publication documenting the partnerships’ experience of the Bridge 47 Project has been launched.
Entitled “OUT OF THE COMFORT ZONE? Global Citizenship Education and Cross-Sector Partnerships for Sustainable Development”, the publication shares the learnings of partnerships from the Bridge 47 Project.
The document is presented in an easily accessible format providing examples of partnerships involving civil society and a wide range of actors in different sectors including policy makers, academia, media, health services, businesses and museums.
Nine case studies from the Bridge 47 partnerships are outlined in this publication. They are placed in wider contexts that focus on how issues of sustainable development can be dealt with through cross-sector partnerships and how Global Citizenship Education can be used as an approach in such partnerships while exploring their contribution to transformative, systemic change.
Today’s launch celebrates more than three years of Bridge 47 partnerships that included 21 partnerships between GCE organisations and actors in other sectors. These initiatives make use of GCE organisations’ experiences, approaches and methods and relate them to opportunities that exist beyond partnerships with ‘the usual suspects’
The experiences gained from the Bridge 47 partnerships offer an insight into how partnerships can be started, the pitfalls to avoid and how opportunities for addressing the challenges of sustainable development through education and learning.
