In July 2019, SDG 4 (‘Quality Education’) will be reviewed at the UN High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) in New York. Bridge 47 will be present at the UNHQ to ensure that Target 4.7 is not overlooked during the discussions. To this end, we have several activities planned aimed at underlining the importance of lifelong learning and informal education as vital in achieving the 2030 Agenda.
Come visit us at our daily stall
Throughout the week Bridge 47 will be present at our stall at Ground Corridor 1B of the United Nations Headquarters. Our representatives will be there to assist you with a wealth of information regarding SDG Target 4.7, life-long learning, Global Citizenship Education (CGE), as well as events and activities related thereto. We will also be handing out free copies of related visibility/advocacy materials and recent publications. These materials are handed out on a first-come-first-serve basis, so better come say hi before stores run out.

In partnership with Gaia Education, Bridge 47 will also take part in an exhibition titled ‘1001 ways to Engage Learners to Take Transformative Action for SDGs, Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship Education’. Come check it out when you get the chance!
You're welcome to our celebratory reception on July 16th
On July 16 at 18:00, Bridge 47 and the International Council for Adult Education (ICAE) will host an evening reception devoted to the SDG Target 4.7. In particular, the evening will commemorate the work that many actors including CSOs and member states are doing to advance Target 4.7 as a key to achieving the other the SDGs. This is a time for us to remember how far we have travelled in the first four years of the SDGs, celebrate our joint successes, while also galvanising our efforts to help Target 4.7 flourish.
The reception will be held in the UN building at 18:00 near Vienna café, and there will be drinks and snacks served. Please join us! You can find a more complete invitation attached below.
Please join our side event on July 18th
On July 18 (13:15-14:30) Bridge 47 will, together with the Permanent Mission of Finland to the United Nations, host a side event discussion panel called “Global Citizenship Education - Why is it Important? Insights and Cross-Cutting Practices.” Taking place in Conference Room 5 of UNHQ, speakers will take delegates on a journey through the different dimensions of Global Citizenship Education and discuss how it connects to achieving Agenda 2030.
There will be an active dialogue on the integration of Global Citizenship Education as a fundamental part of formal and non-formal education practices and policies. The aim is to exchange best practices, consider challenges, and forge new partnerships for the implementation of Global Citizenship Education and Target 4.7. The Minister of Education from Finland and the director of APECIU are both confirmed speakers.
