This toolkit gives some basic ideas and guidance for CSOs working on (international) development effectiveness that are looking to advocate for a more enabling environment for their work.
Apart from the introductory sections that provide a context for emergence of this toolkit (the work of the Open Forum for CSO Development Effectiveness) and the Forum’s understanding of an “enabling environment”, the bulk of this document consists of practical techniques, tips and questions to consider while doing/planing advocacy activities, as well examples of effective advocacy approaches and a fairly comprehensive portfolio of advocacy-related resources.
The resources was created in order to support the work of members of the Open Forum and to help them operationalise the “Istanbul principles on Development Effectiveness.”
This toolkit was produced by the Open Forum for CSO Development Effectiveness.
